African National Congress Treasurer general Paul Mashatile has been slammed for handing out money in Vhembe district of Limpopo while on the campaign trail for the party.
Videos of Mashatile dishing out money were circulating on social media on Sunday with many questioning how he could pull such a stunt while ANC staff members have not been paid for over three months.
Mpho Mathoho posted on twitter: “ANC Treasurer, Paul Mashatile handing out money to congregants in Limpopo, where he is doing door-to-door campaign. ANC staffs have not been paid for at least three months now via @PelaneM #Election2021 #ANCLGE2021.”
Suspended employee Carl Niehaus also took to twitter to also express his disappointment with the move.
He wrote: “I’m told that ANC Treasurer Geberal Paul Mashatile on the campaign trail, is now busy dishing money out in church in Vhembe, while @MylYANC staff are not paid. Eish, have we totally lost our moral compass? Cry our beloved #ANC”.

The move comes after staffers had poured their hearts out to ANG about how life had become difficult for them.
Mashatile spoke to a broadcaster on Monday morning and tried to defend his actions.
He said he was giving money to his team so that they can make a church offering.
