Azimio La Umoja One Kenya – South Africa Chapter has condemned the withdrawal of the security detail of former Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta and that of his family.
In a statement, the organization said: “We vehemently condemn the removal of the security detail of the former president and his family by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) regime.
The organization said according to the Kenyan Constitution, retired Kenyatta is entitled to his security detail, “and any withdrawal violates his constitutional right as a former president”. Such withdrawal is dangerous to retired President Kenyatta and members of his family but also the stability and peace of the nation.”
“Never in the history of Kenyan politics has a former president been subjected to such barbaric acts by the incumbent. As a Chapter, we view such action as reckless and an immature display of political
intolerance, considering its timing, coming at the heels of protest rallies called by the Honourable Raila Odinga in an effort to reclaim his 2022 stolen presidential victory.”
“The protests follow recent revelations by a whistle-blower from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), who revealed authentic details of how our party leader Hon. Odinga was robbed of his victory by the IEBC senior commissioners who manipulated the final presidential results.”
“According to the whistle-blower, the Hon. Odinga garnered 8.1 million votes, while his competitor William Ruto trailed with 5.9 million votes, giving the Hon. Odinga a win with over 2 million votes. However, not only did the IEBC short-change our presidential candidate by illegally declaring the loser as the winner, but a compromised Supreme Court of Kenya ignored all the rigging evidence produced during the hearing of a petition by Hon. Odinga.”
“This evidence has now been reinforced by a patriotic Kenyan whistle-blower who has confirmed the rigging scheme.” Azimio La Umoja One Kenya said the withdrawal of the security of the former president by the UDA regime “is therefore seen as a retaliation to Hon. Odinga who is mounting pressure on the illegitimate regime to resign and allow the right winner to manage the country”.
“Such intimidatory tactics will not deter our party leader, the Rt. Odinga and millions of his supporters, who are victims of the stolen election, from demanding electoral justice. Let the UDA regime be reminded that this time around, millions of Kenyans who voted overwhelmingly for the Hon. Odinga will not relent until their stolen electoral victory is restored.”
“As a chapter, we call for the immediate restoration of the security detail of former President Kenyatta and for a return to maturity and tolerance in the nation’s political discourse as we pursue electoral justice.”
“We also urge the international
community to come to Kenya’s aid and intervene in the current political quagmire before it escalates. Particularly, a team (local and international) should conduct an independent forensic audit of the server of the IEBC to verify the real winner of the 2022 presidential elections, as recently requested by our party leader.”
