The murderer of Skwatta Kamp rapper Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, Sindisiwe Manqele has been granted parole, Department of Justice and Correctional Services confirmed on Tuesday.

“The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is able to confirm that Sindisiwe Precious Manqele has been placed on parole, effectively from May 24, 2022,” Departmental spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said: “This decision was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board, (CSPB) having assessed Manqele’s profile as submitted by the Case Management Committee and other material presented for the purposes of parole consideration.”

Nxumalo added that parole placement is not the end of the sentence.

It is critical to highlight that parole placement is not the end of the sentence, as Manqele will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections, whereby she is expected to comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subject to supervision until her sentence expires on May 23, 2028.”

Manqele was found guilty and given a 12 years sentence for stabbing her rapper boyfriend in the chest in 2015.

In sentencing her, Judge Solly Sithole said she overstepped the boundaries of private defense.

Manqele did not allow her imprisonment to set limits. In 2018 she successfully graduated with honours degree from University of South Africa.

“I want to be a better person and do better,” she said.
